Planned Admission

Following review of the referral information and risk assessments a matching risk assessment with our current residents will be carried out to assess the risks of this particular child. Should the child be deemed a suitable match a member of staff will visit the young person in their current placement and if both parties agree the young person will be invited to Woodford Children’s Home for an initial visit.

The visit is a perfect opportunity for them to ask questions, view the home and meet the team.  If all goes well a place will be offered and a planning meeting will be held within the first two weeks so we can agree on the young person’s care plan, examine how the placement is progressing, discuss routine and expectations.

Emergency Admission

Some local authorities request emergency placements. We will only consider these placements if the following conditions are met:

  1. The local authority provides the home with all relevant known information in order for a full risk assessment to be carried out.
  2. The referral meets all our other criteria and is required for a minimum of three months.
  3. The local authority agrees to hold a planning meeting within 72 hours.
  4. The placement is considered beneficial to the young person and does not put the safety and security of the other residents at risk.

The decision to offer an emergency placement will be made by the Registered Manager or Responsible Individual.
